Sun Care
Sun care and UV protection for everyday life and outdoor activities
Sun care is a practical element of daily skin protection, important in Switzerland where UV intensity fluctuates with altitude and season. Sunscreen formulations include mineral (physical) and chemical filters; choice depends on skin tolerance, texture preferences and intended use. Common forms are lotion, cream, spray, stick and specific face products.
Key selection criteria are SPF, UVA coverage, water resistance and suitability for sensitive skin or children. SPF indicates protection against UVB; broad-spectrum products also protect against UVA, which contributes to long-term skin damage. Water-resistant products are advantageous for aquatic activities but still require reapplication after swimming or heavy sweating. Labels should clearly state SPF and UVA coverage.
Application guidance: apply a sufficient amount roughly 20–30 minutes before exposure and reapply every two hours or after swimming and perspiration. For the face, opt for lightweight, non-comedogenic formulas. For infants, avoid direct sun; use shade and protective clothing and only specific baby sunscreens when exposure is unavoidable. Even so, frequent reapplication remains necessary.
For e-commerce and advertising feeds include structured attributes: product category (sunscreen, after-sun, lip protection), SPF value, filter type (mineral/chemical), water resistance, target skin type, intended user (adults, children, babies), format (spray, lotion, stick), key ingredients (fragrance-free, hypoallergenic). Suggested mapping: GS1 GPC Health & Beauty > Sun Care, and mark as cosmetic according to EU rules. Marketing segments: Families & Kids, Outdoor & Sport, Facial Care, Sensitive Skin. These structured fields improve discoverability, targeting and compliance on the Swiss market and support clearer consumer choice.
